Fair Highlights

  • Yellowstone Quilters
  • "The Call of Fall"
  • First Annual Antique Tractor Show

The Quilters Along the Yellowstone Trail quilt guild will be holding their miniature quilt silent auction during the county fair. Stop in and see all the small sized quilted items and place a bid on your favorites.

The Yellowstone Quilters is a group for quilters and those who like quilts. They hold meetings the second Monday of the month, September through May except for the month of January.

Meetings are held in Renville at the Renville Community Center on Main Street. If you have any questions about the group or about any of our fun activities, ask the members at our booth while bidding on your favorite miniature quilt.

"The Call of Fall" will be the theme this year at the Master Gardeners booth located in the Horticulture building. Please stop and visit us, bring your gardening questions and register to win a door prize. The Renville County Master Gardeners will be there and the booth will feature many plants that work well in our fall gardens.

Master Gardners at the Renville County Fair 2010

"The Call of Fall" will be the theme this year at the Master Gardeners booth located in the Horticulture building. Please stop and visit us, bring your gardening questions and register to win a door prize. The Renville County Master Gardeners will be there and the booth will feature many plants that work well in our fall gardens.

While attending the fair, take time to enjoy the gardens located throughout the fairgrounds. These gardens are maintained by the Master Gardeners, and many of the plants are labeled for easy identification. In addition this year, 4-H clubs have been asked to exhibit scarecrows that will be displayed in the gardens.

Master Gardeners are University of Minnesota trained volunteers whose job is to educate the public about a variety of horticulture subjects using readily available, up-to-date research-based information and a desire to share that knowledge with others. Core course training is conducted each winter and is available by taking an online training or in person.

If you are interested in becoming a Master Gardener, talk to us at our booth or contact the Renville County Extension Office at 320-523-3713. You can also go to our website for more information http://blog.lib.umn.edu/mgweb/renville/.
